Meet Dr. Seshadri

Sudha Seshadri, MD, DM, is a distinguished behavioral neurologist and a global leader in Alzheimer’s and neurodegenerative disease research. She is the founding director of the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases at UT Health San Antonio. Under her leadership, the Biggs Institute, in partnership with UT Rio Grande Valley, launched the South Texas Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, Texas’ only National Institute on Aging (NIA)–designated Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.

Her primary mission centers on addressing the unique needs of the San Antonio and South Texas region, including the rural and underserved communities within the 38 counties served by UT Health San Antonio by advancing focused prevention, diagnosis and individualized, evidence-based treatments of neurodegenerative diseases. Her work is world renowned for its innovative approach, combining compassionate clinical care with cutting-edge research, education and outreach.

Her current research focuses on precision medicine for Alzheimer’s disease treatment, integrating genetic, imaging and biomarker data to develop targeted therapies. Her work also emphasizes the role of lifestyle factors, such as blood pressure, physical activity and sleep in reducing dementia risk. Through clinical trials, community outreach and education, she inspires hope for effective prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases.
